Great Finds At Kohl's

So this is a post I've been wanting to do for quite some time. In high school, I used to work at Kohl's so I did a lot of shopping there (thank you employee discount). This was the mid to late ninties and they had some cute stuff. After college, I stopped shopping at Kohl's for clothes. They still had great deals on shoes, jewelry, and household items, but their wardrobe departments went completely down hill. Everything looked frumpy and cheap.

After we decided to buy a house this past summer, I began shopping at Kohl's more frequently. Coming from a super tiny apartment into a much larger house required me to get more things like towels, bathroom rugs, table clothes (how exciting to finally have a kitchen table and not have to eat at the coffee table!!!), you get the picture. On one of my many excursions, the apparel department actually caught my eye! This was right around the time that Vera Wang released her Simply Vera line at Kohl's. Gone were the frumpy and plain old lady clothes. The racks were now filled with stylish clothes full of in style colors, designs, and cuts.

Kohl's just keeps rolling out great pieces season after season. Recently, Kohl's added a line by Elle to already great lines by Simply Vera and Daisy Fuentes. The Elle line is fabulous if you ask me. If you are looking for affordable, but still well made versions of high end designer pieces, you need to check this line out. I guarantee that you will be able to find at least one item that you absolutely love.

What's even better is that most of these newer, hipper lines don't stop at apparel. Shoes, handbags, homegoods, and jewelry are also available. I bought almost every piece in Daisy Fuentes' spring jewelry line (in silver). Of course, not every piece is a winner. I recently came across a stockpile of Daisy Fuentes shoes featuring leopard print with lace (yes, they were as ugly as you are imagining) available in the clearance department at 80% off. But trust me, the good outweighs the bad.

So if you haven't checked out the apparel department at Kohl's lately, give it a looksy. You'll be suprised by what you find. What's even better is the fact that it seems like everything at Kohl's is always on sale. How can you argue with that? Also, make sure to check out the clearance racks. I know it's July, but I just picked up some great sweaters for $6 a piece marked down from $55-$68. Happy Shopping!

***EDIT*** I just found out that Kohls.com is currently offering 99 cent per item shipping through today. There is nothing I hate more than when you find one little item that you want and there is a flat shipping charge of like $7 so I love when Kohl's does the per item shipping. Starting tomorrow (July 3rd) they will be offering FREE SHIPPING on orders over $75 or $5 flat shipping on orders under $75.

Bra-llelujah!!!

I'm watching The Rachael Ray Show at the moment and they are doing an interesting segment on bras. Every now and then they have a Human Lab segment where they do tests of different products. Today the products were bras. They featured 3 bras, including the brand spanking new Spanx bra. Let me just tell you, I was blown away by the results of all three of the featured bras and am quickly placing my order.

First up, the Chic Shaper. This isn't exactly a bra, it's more of a bra accessory that you wear in addition to any one of your favorite bras. It promises to lift your chest up to creat cleavage while at the same time improving your posture. The woman who tried this one on was rather flat chested and I must say it did give her cleavage. She also noted that she could feel that her posture was better, but that it wasn't an uncomfortable contraption. I'm not lacking in the cleavage department, but I think everyone could use some help with posture. There's just something about a woman who has great posture. You'll seem more confident and comfortable in what you're wearing and in turn it will make you look fabulous. Although, I'm not lacking in the cleavage department, I will say that this product would probably be a great pair up with a favorite bra that just doesn't enhance your cleavage as much as other bras may. I am a Victoria's Secret addict and have tons of different bras in different cuts, styles, shapes, etc. Obviously, some of them are better at creating cleavage than others. But it never seems to fail that your favorite bra is the one that doesn't create va-va-va-voom cleavage! Maybe this will change that.

Next up, something that I've been looking forward to for a long time. From the lovely people at Spanx, Bra-llelujah! Front-Close Underwire Bra! Spanx creator Sarah Blakely took five years to develop this amazing bra. It promises to make back fat disappear. The woman who tried this bra on in the Human Lab was a size 36D (Let me just say, it is so nice to see that large chested women were used in this experiment. Too often I find that girls with size A cups are used for things like this. No offense to girls with smaller chests, but when you have the luxury of being able to go bra-less when necessary, it's safe to assume that you don't have problems with the weight of your chest pulling a bra down into your skin; nor do you have to deal with then trying to pull the straps out of your skin and constantly re-adjust. That's just my opinion.) and once she put this baby on, NO MORE BACK FAT!!! It was unbelievable. This front closure bra looked so smooth on her back, it almost looked like she didn't have a bra on. Looking at the front side, it lifted this woman's chest and offered full coverage. A little research shows that this bra is made of a unique hosiery fabric that allows it to adhere to your body like a second skin. I ordered this one off of BareNecessities.com just before I wrote this post. I'll definately post an update once I get this bra in my hands.

Lastly, we have the Breakthrough Backless Underwire Bra by Maidenform. Never in my life have I been able to wear a backless outfit. Although they've always had the boob tape or those little pastey things to wear with a backless dress, as a 36-38D, I also have the problem of saggage. The thought of my boobs swinging around in the front, just so that I could show off my back was obviously never a possibility for me. Those days may be over. This new bra is essentially a bra without the back strap. So you "hook" the straps over your arms and adjust them to be as tight as you need them to be to give you the support you need in the front. The woman who tried this bra on was a 34D and she looked fabulous. She talked about how she too has been unable to wear backless dresses, in particular on her wedding day, because of the lack of support. With this bra on, she definately had support. I don't have any plans for a backless outfit as of yet, but with the warm weather approaching, I will be on the lookout for a backless outfit. When I do, I will definately be picking this bra up. If you're interested in this bra, BareNecessities.com currently has it available at 20% off making it $25.60. Well worth it if you ask me.

A final note about bras, I think that one of the worst things that all women do with bras is keep them too long. I am totally guilty of this! Come on, they're broken in and comfortable, of course I want to keep them. The problem is that many of the times these bras have lost their elasticity and as such have lost their support and coverage. Just something to think about.

Rubber Rain Boots

How do you guys feel about rubber rain boots? About 2 years ago or so, Coach came out with a collection of rubber rain boots that I thought were kind of cute, but couldn't imagine wearing them out and about. I mean come on, I was living in downtown Chicago at the time, not the marshlands of the south. With the exception of one girl that I go to school with (who, by the way is one of those people who come from money and likes to flaunt everything), I never saw anyone wearing the Coach rain boots so it seemed that most people (at least in Chicago) had the same mind set I did.

Fast forward two years...A few weeks ago a friend and I were on our lunch break and as we waited to cross State Street we see a woman wearing rubber boots. Only they weren't Coach rubber boots nor were they Payless rubber boots. Nope, these babies were by Rubbermaid. That's right, bright yellow Rubbermaid boots that a janitor would wear while cleaning up a toilet that has overflowed. So as my friend and I tried to contain our laughter we got to talking about rubber boots. Is it a fashion statement you would want to make?

I'm still on the fence about these. After all of the snow fall we've had in the Chicagoland area this winter, it has made realize the functionality of these types of boots. Specifically, since we now have a house and a driveway that needs to be shoveled when it snows it makes me want to have a pair of these to wear while shoveling. My gym shoes keep getting soaked as do my jeans. A cute pair of rubber boots would solve this problem. But would I wear them around town? Maybe if I got a pair of sleek black ones or even a black pair with cute white polka dots, that might not be so bad. Oh what to do, what to do.

Endless.com has got a bunch of really cute rubber rain boots. With the negative $5 shipping, I was thinking of picking up a pair. The dilema I'm facing is whether I should get something really crazy and fun that would make me only wear them around the house when I'm shoveling or having to walk through my muddy back yard because it isn't sodded yet. Or whether I should pick out something that can also be used for around the town stuff. As far as the crazy pair goes, I really love this pair of Western Chief Ladybug Rain Boots. They also have a cute frog pair. Needless to say, I don't think I would be wearing these on the streets of downtown Chicago. On the other end of the spectrum, I think this pair of Chooka Seaside Dots Boots. These seem more appropriate for wearing around town.

So what do you guys think? Right now, I'm really leaning towards the Ladybug Boots just because I think they are really fun and I really don't think that I will ever be wearing any type of rubber boot around town. If there is some type of natural disaster wear I do need to wear boots, I really don't think I will even care what kind they are! Post some comments and let me know that your opinion is.

Also, if you're looking for rain boots, Endless.com is having a sale. Besides the negative $5 overnight shipping, they are giving you $20 off rain wear purchases of $80 or more. They've got rain gear for men, women, and children. Some of the children's wear is just too cute. The jackets and hats are adorable.

Cyber Monday Deals

I hope everyone had a great weekend and recovered from the tons of turkey on Thanksgiving Day and the tons of shopping on Black Friday because it's time to bring on more shopping with Cyber Monday. Some say this day is a fluke, much like a "Hallmark Holiday," but if retailers are willing to through out excellent deals and coupon codes offering free shipping and percentages off then I am all for it. My inbox has been flooded with Cyber Monday deals so I thought I would pass them onto you. Not all of the deals are make-up and fashion related, but let's be honest, you're still looking for gifts for others, including guys, and do they really want make-up and clothes? Most likely not. Anyhoo, this is what I have so far...

+ MLB.com is offering 20% OFF YOUR ENTIRE PURCHASE. This offer doesn't require any coupon or promo code, but it is only valid between noon and 4 p.m. Eastern time. I'm assuming this offer will be good on their outlet section so you can get some really good deals.
Might I suggest.....MLB Edition Scrabble. I have a friend who is a Scrabble and a baseball fanatic who is going to absoluetly love this! The Scrabble board looks like a baseball field and the tiles look like little baseballs with the letters in the sweet spot. Too cool if you ask me. I'm planning on getting this for my Sweetie too so that I can play! With the 20% off discount, it's only $24.

Shop the official online store of MLB
+ CafePress.com - I love this site because they truly do have something for everyone and if you can't find exactly what you're looking for you can make it yourself. Find t-shirts, sweatshirts, mugs, mouse pads, greeting cards, tote bags, magnets, buttons, dog shirts, and so much more with funny designs, holiday designs, charity awareness desgins, Christmas designs, shopping designs...you get the picture. Today only, use coupon / promo code HOLIDAY30 to receive $30 OFF ANY $100 PURCHASE. There is another coupon / promo code available that does not expire today. Use coupon / promo code FRFAM2007 to receive $15 OFF ANY $30 PURCHASE. This coupon expires on November 28th.
Might I suggest.....LushLaundry.com - There are tons and tons of shops on Cafepress, but this one is one of my favorites. I stumbled upon it while looking for Breast Cancer Awareness shirts for my Mom. This was the first site that I found that had "I Wear Pink For My Mom" which just thrilled my Mom. She always wanted more personalized shirts for us to wear. Anyhoo, LushLaundry.com has quickly become my go to shop for gifts for everyone. Check out their "Addiction" line. I picked up "Shoe Addict" mugs for my girlfriends last year and they went nuts for them. Perhaps this year I'll have to get the "Purse Addict" or "Shopping Addict" designs.

+ Candle Bay is offering 20% OFF YOUR ENTIRE PURCHASE with coupon / promo code CYBERMONDAY. They have a lot of really cute candle gifts sets. Some are too cute to light!
Might I suggest.....Starting at only $2.99 these are a steal. Reed diffusers can be expensive at department stores...usually more than $20! These make great stocking stuffers. These are also great to have on hand to give out for those guests who stop on over unexpectedly. The best part is they will think you spent a ton more than you really did!

+ HSN.com is offering FREE SHIPPING on over 800 items in their Gift Shop. There is something for everyone in the Gift Shop. Find NFL items, make-up, gourmet food gifts, electronics, arts & crafts, jewelry, cooking items and so much more. No coupon or promo code is required.
Might I suggest.....Bliss Merry Citrus! Holiday Gift Set. Available on 2 flex-pays of only $19 and FREE SHIPPING this is a great gift for any girlfriend or a treat for yourself.

I will try and post more throughout the day. Happy Shopping!
